Our smallest Floating Robot for Eliminating Debris (MicroFRED) collects real-time data on debris and water quality. This helps researchers, municipalities, ports and conservation partners identify pollution trends, invasive species and other threats for earliest intervention.

Unlike manual efforts, FREDs operate continuously, removing plastic and contaminants like oil, heavy metals and debris. By collecting nearshore, we are preventing pollution from traveling into the ocean.

We are developing course content on marine debris, technology innovation, and how the two go hand in hand. We’ve already worked with over 2,500 students to educate them on marine debris and how modern technology can help solve this problem.

Donations will help Clear Blue Sea ensure that more FREDs are created and updated for higher efficiency.
